First Friday: Open House for Non-Profits
December 6, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
1701 is lucky to house several Non-Profits that do incredible things for our community. Every month local businesses here in the ViBe Creative District host artist pop-ups and special events! For December’s First Friday, 1701 has decided to welcome the community into our space to meet some of the non-profits that work with and out of 1701.
Non-Profits that will be Present:
Hope House Foundation: Hope House Foundation provides services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities exclusively in their own homes or apartments — regardless of how complex their disabilities may be.
Lynnhaven River Now – Discussing the Pearl Business and Home Programs: Their goal is for clean and healthy Virginia Beach waterways and the objectives are: (1)To identify and reduce sources of contamination in our waterways; reduce nutrients, sediments and chemicals running off of our lawns, parking lots, roadways, farmland and out of our septic systems. (2)To educate and engage the community and partner organizations in restoring and protecting our waterways and natural areas. (3)To restore lost habitats such as oyster reefs, salt marshes, native plants, forests and other buffers that help to filter polluted runoff and protect our waterways and their marine life.
HRBOR (Hampton Roads Business Outreach): Founded in 2006, Hampton Roads Business OutReach is Virginia’s first LGBT Chamber of Commerce. Our mission is to empower and support our LGBT and allied member businesses and professionals and provide our community with an inclusive and welcoming environment to live, work, and grow.
Family Fun Xperience: The Fun Family Xperience is a live theatrical show coming to Virginia Beach’s oceanfront, with interactive experiences for the whole family.
Veterans Path: Veteran’s PATH enables returning veterans to rediscover meaning, purpose, and joy in their lives through mindfulness, meditation, and a safe community.
Stand Up For Kids: StandUp for Kids – Hampton Roads is the second oldest StandUp for Kids chapter, having been established in 1991 at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Our volunteers serve homeless youth up to age 24 and their dependents.
ViBe Creative District: Our Mission is to promote, support, connect, and inspire the arts and creative industries to boost our local economy, grow jobs, and enhance our quality of life.
Our Vision is to create and revive economic vibrancy in our neighborhood with a remarkable local vibe.
SEAL Future Foundation: In 2012 a group of Navy SEALs and leading executives teamed up to tackle the challenges faced by SEALs transitioning out of the Navy. The SFF founding team recognized that the transition problem is best solved by creating a community of leading executives and organizations committed to supporting SEALs. Since then, the SFF has been run by an equal mix of SEALs and civilians, developing a transition platform in partnership with elite business and academic institutions. The SFF was founded on and abides by the following core principles: Best-in-class solutions, Strong partnerships, Lifetime access and support, and Adherence to the SEAL Ethos.
So, join us on December 6th for a night with Non-Profits. Learn more about what they do for our community, and what you can do to help.
