Supervised Machine Learning – Kaggle Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Norfolk Data Science Meetup.

Meetup Topic: Supervised Machine Learning – Kaggle Challenge

I would be fun to explore some data and apply cool machine learning algorithms and try methods for improvement and validation process.

Let us apply supervised learning techniques and an analytical mind on data collected for the U.S. census to help CharityML (a fictitious charity organization) identify people most likely to donate to their cause.

URL: https://www.kaggle.com/c/udacity-mlcharity-competition/overview

Let us explore the Kaggle challenge using the below aspects:

1) How to identify when preprocessing is needed, and how to apply it.
2) How to establish a benchmark for a solution to the problem.
3) What each of several supervised learning algorithms accomplishes.
4) How to investigate whether a solution model is adequate.

Complete beginners are welcome, but some knowledge of python (and/or machine learning) will help. Bring a laptop if you would like to run the code yourself.

Let me know if you have any questions and I hope to see you there.

Cheers!
