GYMGUYZ, a mobile gym company in Williamsburg, is responding to the current coronavirus crisis by offering free virtual personal training sessions to area frontline workers. The outreach is part of the company’s efforts “to help clients stay healthy and active as well as reduce stress during these uncertain times,” said company owner Kristin Doherty.
The sessions are being offered to Williamsburg, James City County and York County workers ranging from healthcare, grocery store and daycare workers to members of police, rescue and firefighting units as well as others. These services include a free virtual fitness assessment, one free 60-minute virtual personal training session and a 30 day fitness plan as long as there is availability. More information is available by calling 757-707-8276 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
GYMGUYZ also has adjusted its home fitness training to reach clients during the current Covid-19 crisis. The company is now offering virtual personal training to fully recreate the in-home or on-site personal training experience. GYMGUYZ’s four certified trainers “demonstrate key exercises right before your very eyes to ensure proper form and technique,” said Doherty, a William & Mary graduate. These sessions are available in FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom, WebEx or Skype.
It is a new type of training for the coronavirus age. “With the gyms being closed, at least for now, the only place left to work out regularly is at home,” said Michael, a GYMGUYZ client. His trainer James “keeps me on task by doing FaceTime workouts,” Michael said. “James is just as motivational on the video chat as he is in person.”
GYMGUYZ also is a local sponsor of the Multiple Sclerosis walk on April 25th that has now gone virtual. To raise additional funds, the company is running on Facebook and Instagram a contest on who can have the most days over 10K steps.
