Who will “beat the buzzer” during Startup Night?
Lucky for you, the NCAA basketball tournament doesn’t start until the week after! So make room in your calendar Thursday, March 14th from 6pm-8pm to come and check out the latest business ideas in Hampton Roads.
Startup Night is a monthly event for entrepreneurs to network and share their newest business ideas. At some point, every new business owner has to start “pitching” an audience, whether for acquiring a loan, gaining new customers, recruiting new partners, marketing their business, or securing investor funding. What better place to hone your skill than a friendly and supportive atmosphere that provides constructive feedback? We are all about growing the entrepreneurial community by providing a platform for promoting the next innovative idea.
Meet other entrepreneurs, investors and business enthusiasts who come together to network and watch demos of hot new local technologies, startups and businesses.
Attendees come from all walks of life and industries. The crowd includes not just entrepreneurs, but bankers, lawyers, accountants, tech enthusiasts, investors, students, and maybe your cofounder.
After the pitch, the question and answer session gives the presenter important feedback and help from the diverse knowledge banks in the crowd. Everyone benefits!
The Startup Night schedule goes like this:
6:25-6:30 Introductions, upcoming events, etc.
7:30-8:30 Wrap-up and continued networking
Come watch three new businesses pitch their ideas:
- Eighty percent of small businesses fail due to lack of planning and capital. Commercial clients may commit to spaces without fully understanding how it can affect their business. Designed by a local architect, Placity provides an online tool for businesses and real estate professionals to better understand building code requirements before risking all of their resources.
- Remember how much fun it was standing around waiting for the school bus in extreme weather conditions? No? Me neither… But Bus Buddy offers a solution! Some students from a local school built an app to help kids and parents know when to expect the bus. They want to tell you their story, and I can promise you that it is a good one. These kids can pitch!
- And finally, Koby Lomax owns a digital media company that creates digital content for social media. He has two brands – one driven by his passion to help men with curly hair manage it and feel good about it, and the other to help millennials explore opportunities in franchising their products. He is looking for feedback on where to expand on his ideas and wants your help.
Hope to see you there!
